EXCLUSIVE: Debacle of Gotabaya's secret visit to the US

       EXCLUSIVE

(April 26, Los Angeles, CA - Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The official report of the expert panel appointed to advice the UN Secretary General on the possible human rights violations during the last phase of the war between the Government of Sri Lanka and LTTE, was released to the public yesterday. The reports stresses that there are credible evidence of war crimes that warrant an independent international inquiry.

Meanwhile it is reported that a number of civil organizations in the US are taking legal actions to arrest Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse, an American citizen, who is currently on a private visit to the United States. It has been reported that he has abstained from using diplomatic privileges in order to keep the journey a secret.

It is learnt that the above organizations can take legal action based on the fact that Mr. Gotabaya is a US citizen, and that the above panel report holds him responsible for some of the allegations.

This situation has resulted in anxiety and confusion among the politicians in Colombo, and the state media that lied to the public that Mr. Gotabaya was on a visit to Uzbekistan are now caught in huge embarrassment.
